From the ground of Malaysia to a shelf in the Netherlands.
The home pots have travelled far away from the land they were born.
They share their little stories of the houses that grew on their motherland.
Simple, everyday life stories about home.
It may not be grand but every little story, it holds its own voice.

Starting from Ain's home pots, the teenage curators add their stories into the shelf.
Even if our stories are short, these stories are still inimitable and have their own voice.
Together, we try to make a place that reminds us of home.

As a part of the "Re-Learning" Workshop project, this time, Ain who returned back to her home in Malaysia, presented Home Pots: Series in the Netherlands. Ain is keen on topics such as post-colonialism, intergenerational memory and lost archival of oral stories. She creates artworks that tries where she explores alternative methods in retrieving and archiving these lost stories of her family origin. Under the "Re-Learning" Workshop, she tries to re-learn, not just her family origins, but also her culture's traditional craftmanship.

Ain was looking through her families' old photographs collections that survived a flood almost 10 years ago. When Ain was looking through, she noticed the houses. Her family had moved houses. Many times. From the jungles to the cities. For a better life and opportunity. It made her wonder what happened to the houses that was left behind.

Are they still there?

What was it like?

Where could the houses have gone?

Ain starts to seek stories about the homes that her past family once lived in and builds them again with the homemade clay of the land she and her family currently resides.

In this installation, the audiences are invited to use the headphones to listen to the stories.
They are also invited to interact with the home pots as there could be something inside the home pots. There is also a handmade book where they could write and share a little story about a home that they know.
